Taco Del Mar features 24-ounce mondo shredded beef and chicken burritos with a choice of four tortillas, fish tacos, kids meals, salads, vegetarian and vegan offerings. The store decor sets the "Inner Baja" mood with surf murals, thatched umbrellas, mounted sailfish, long board tabletops and tropical-surf background music.
Launched in Seattle in 1992 based on founder
James Schmidt's appreciation for Baja style burritos and fish
tacos, Portland was the second major market for expansion for
Taco Del Mar three years ago. The company remains
independent, unlike many "Mexi-fresh" restaurant concepts that
are publicly traded or owned by big burger companies.
